DUBUQUE, Iowa - Come pay tribute to those who serve, or who have served our country on Military Appreciation Night this Saturday, sponsored by Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen and Fazoli's, along with media partner 101.1 FM The River. The Saints are set to take on the Madison Capitols at 7:05 p.m.

The Fighting Saints will wear special red, white and blue jerseys, sponsored by the Dubuque County Veterans Affairs Commission. They will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Veterans Freedom Center in Dubuque. Last year, the team raised over $19,000 through the auction, all donated to the Veterans Freedom Center.

"This is always one of the most special nights of the year," said Fighting Saints Vice President Katie Kenne. "We owe a great debt to those who serve our country, and we have been unbelievably proud to assist those who served in the armed forces with this annual tradition here at Our House."

Founded by Jim Wagner, formerly of the 199th Infantry Recon Squadron during the Vietnam War, the Purple Heart recipient created a place for veterans in the Tri-State area to interact with other veterans, engage in leisure activities such as pool, darts, and cards, as well as create works of art in the woodworking shop.

Active, veteran, or retired service members will receive a free ticket to the game, plus they will receive $3 off per ticket for friends and family with a valid military ID.

Before the national anthem is played, members of the Disabled American Veterans Post 6 will serve as the Color Guard. Also, during the first intermission, the Saints will host an Oath of Enlistment ceremony on the ice in which cadets from the U.S. Army and the Air Force will be sworn into service.

For tickets to this special night, call the box office at 563.583.6880, or go to DubuqueFightingSaints.com.
