Yard Goats Bite Sea Dogs 4-1 in Portland

Portland, ME- The Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Portland Sea Dogs by the score of 4-1 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Rico Garcia hurled five scoreless innings and Mitch Horaceck, Rayan Gonzalez, Logan Cozart and Matt Pierpont finished the gem by allowing just one run over the final four frames. Mylz Jones had a pair of hits and scored two runs for the Yard Goats who avoided a third straight loss. Forrest Wall connected on his sixth home run, a solo blast in the ninth inning into right field pavilion.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the first inning off Sea Dogs starter Kyle Hart. Mylz Jones began the first inning with a single and moved to second on Brendan Rodgers single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Then, Brian Mundell's sacrifice fly scored Jones from third base giving the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead.

Hartford added a run in the third inning. Chris Rabago led off with a walk, stole second base and went to third on a flyout by Mylz Jones. Next, Brendan Rodgers drove in Rabago with a groundout to first and gave Hartford a 2-0 edge.

The Yard Goats scored a single run in the eighth inning on Yonathan Daza's double and another run in the ninth inning on Forrest Wall's solo home run. Portland's only run scored on Luke Tendler's RBI single in the eighth inning off reliever Logan Cozart.

The Yard Goats wrap up their four game weekend series against the Sea Dogs at 1:00 on Sunday afteroon at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com. The Yard Goats will return to Dunkin' Donuts Park for their next homestand on Thursday, July 26th at 7:05 PM and will host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
