December 1, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Connecticut Whale News Release
HARTFORD, December 1, 2009: The American Hockey League announced today the selection of Hartford Wolf Pack center Corey Locke as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Month for November.
Locke, who leads the AHL in points and assists, and ranks second in the league in goals, with 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points in 24 games, scored five goals and added 14 assists for 19 points in 13 games in November. Those numbers helped lead the Wolf Pack (13-8-1-2, 29 pts.) to an 8-2-1-2 November mark, and into second place in the Atlantic Division.
Locke started the month with a bang, scoring the overtime game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Manchester November 1, at 4:59 of the extra session, the latest OT score in Wolf Pack history. Other particular highlights of the month for the sixth-year pro included his second four-point game of the season, November 19 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (two goals, two assists), and a five-game point-scoring streak from the 14th through the 25th, in which Locke struck for two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
A Calder Cup champ with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2007 and a three-time 20-goal-scorer in the AHL, Locke was signed as a free agent by the parent New York Rangers this past July 3.
The Wolf Pack's next action is this Friday night, December 4, when they journey to Manchester to tackle the Atlantic Division-leading Monarchs in a 7:30 game (WTIC HD-2, www.hartfordwolfpack.com, www.wtic.com ). The Pack's next home game is next Friday, December 11, against Kevin Dineen and the Portland Pirates on Guida's Family Value Night (7:00).
