
Westchester Knicks Run out of Gas in Loss to Grand Rapids Drive

WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks (19-30), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell 108-96 to the Grand Rapids Drive (25-24), the Detroit Pistons' affiliate.
Travis Trice II led Westchester with 30 points, also adding six assists. On assignment from the New York Knicks, Marshall Plumlee notched a double-double of 11 each of points and assists while Maurice Ndour finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Doron Lamb and Kevin Capers contributed 15 points apiece.
Drive forward Kevin Murphy led all scorers with 32 points to go along with six rebounds; Ray McCallum ended his night with 21 points and five rebounds. Lorenzo Brown recorded a double-double of 19 points and 11 assists while Chris Horton had one of 11 points and rebounds from the bench.
The opening quarter of the game featured four lead changes and three ties between Westchester and Grand Rapids. The offensive juggernauts traded fire with fire as they attempted a combined 21 three-point shots. The Drive owned a 55 percent mark from the field and edged out the Knicks for the lead at the end of the first. Westchester fell down by as many as nine points as the second quarter got underway. The Knicks committed six turnovers, but the Drive weren't far behind, committing five turnovers of its own. Like Grand Rapids had done in the first, Westchester shot 55 percent from the field, continuing to chip away at the lead. After a late push, the Knicks managed to cut the deficit to only two before halftime.
The game was up for grabs in the third quarter with the teams trading leads five times. The Knicks amped up its defensive pressure, forcing the Drive into eight turnovers and holding them to only 16 points. After a 6-0 run to end the third, Westchester led by seven heading into the fourth. However, Grand Rapids came storming back in the final period, outscoring the Knicks 41-22. The Drive nailed 65.2 percent of its shots from the field in route to its ultimate victory.
The Westchester Knicks will host the Long Island Nets, the Brooklyn Nets' affiliate, on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET for the final game of the 2016-17 season at the historic Westchester County Center. The game will be broadcast on MSG Networks and streamed on Facebook Live.
