Wardogs name radio and TV announcers

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Wardogs radio and TV announcers for the 2004 season will be Tim Becwar, Chris Blackshear, Rachel Baribeau and Mike Sammond.

Tim Becwar will handle the play-by-play for all televised games this year, which will be simulcast on radio. Becwar is currently in his second season as the play-by-play announcer for the NBDL Columbus Riverdragons. His previous announcing experience includes professional baseball and basketball, and college basketball and football.

Chris Blackshear will serve as the radio and TV analyst. Blackshear has broadcast high school sports in Columbus and Phenix City for over ten years, most recently as the announcer for Central High School football games on WCGT TV 16. He has also called prep football action on local radio and hosted sports shows on Cable TV of East Alabama.

Rachel Baribeau has done local radio and TV work and will serve as the sideline reporter for the game broadcasts. Along with Blackshear, she will also co-host the weekly "John Fourcade Show" on radio and TV.

In addition to his duties as team president and general manager, Mike Sammond will serve as the radio play-by-play announcer for the six road games that are not being televised. Sammond has served as sports director and anchor at WRBL TV 3 and as sports anchor at CNN Headline News in addition to over 15 years experience as an announcer in college sports and professional baseball, basketball and hockey.

Once again this season, all Wardogs games will air live on WRLD 95.3 FM (Boomer 95.3). Ten games, including all eight home games, will be televised on tape delay on WCGT TV 16. The "John Fourcade Radio Show" will air live every Monday night at 7:00pm on WRLD 95.3 FM, while the "John Fourcade TV Show" will air every Wednesday night at 7:30pm on WCGT TV 16.
