Columbus Wardogs News Release

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Wardogs have requested and been granted a voluntary suspension by arenafootball2 for the 2005 season. Operators of the team are exploring a possible relocation to another city for the 2006 af2 season. The team has also been approached by an investor who wants to purchase the team and move it to another city for 2006.

"We are heartbroken and deeply saddened that we could not make the Wardogs a success in Columbus," said team president/general manager Mike Sammond. "(Majority owner) Ed Randle and I have made great personal and financial sacrifices to keep the team in place. However, we can no longer afford to do that."

"We cannot express enough appreciation to our sponsors, season ticket holders and fans for their support over the past four years," said Sammond. "Their joy, passion and excitement for the Wardogs was our greatest reward."
