Ogden Raptors News Release

IDAHO FALLS- The Raptors rallied to score eight unanswered mid-inning runs after falling behind early but still fall short of a comeback win to remain winless on the road with a 12-10 loss at Idaho Falls.

The Ogden Raptors (4-14) drew first blood in Tuesday night's western-style shootout off of two errors, two hits and a sacrifice-fly by right fielder Mitchell Hansen. But their solid start offensively was followed up by shaky defending. The Raptors committed two errors in the home half of the first while giving up five hits and a walk, resulting in a six-run first inning for the Idaho Falls Chukars (11-7).

The game began to look like a blowout as the Chukars remained hot, scoring six unanswered runs through the next three innings and extending their lead to ten runs.

In the top of the fifth inning Saige Jenco proved the Raptors wouldn't go down without a fight when he ended their scoring drought with an RBI double. After a walk loaded the bases, Ibandel Isabel launched the Raptors right back into the game with a three run double off of the outfield wall.

Ogden continued its surging comeback in the seventh inning when Mitchell Hansen stole third base, then continued home on a throwing error by Chukars catcher Mark Sanchez. Ibandel Isabel then added another RBI to his stat sheet with a sacrifice ground-out. Three batters later centerfielder DJ Peters drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single, cutting the deficit to just three runs.

Mitchell Hansen added to his great night at the plate by getting the eighth inning rolling with a one out double. Saige Jenco brought Hansen across home plate with a single, and then advanced to third when Keibert Ruiz followed with a single of his own. Ibandel Isabel stepped into the batter's box as the go-ahead run. With a 1-1 count the Raptors hottest bat of the night grounded into an inning ending double play. Bernardo Reyes kept the Ogden's comeback hopes alive by pitching his third scoreless inning of the night. However, Ogden was unable to reach base in the top of the ninth, resulting in a hard-fought loss.

The Raptors will have a shot at vengeance tomorrow as they head back home to face Idaho Falls at Lindquist Field. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
