York Revolution News Release

York, Pa.- Josh Wilson's go-ahead sacrifice fly proved to be enough as the York Revolution came from behind to beat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-3 on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The win brings the Revs (31-26, 71-56) back into a first-place tie atop the second half Freedom Division standings and delivers a blow to the Blue Crabs' (27-31, 53-75) already slim playoff hopes.

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Isaias Tejeda electrified the Rev offense with a first-pitch home run that landed on the top of the carousel in left center. Andres Perez followed suit with a ground-rule double to right center. Michael Rockett then laid down a cue ball bunt that rolled to a stop on the edge of the grass on the third base side, sending Perez to third with still nobody out.

Bryan Pounds grounded into a fielder's choice that left Perez hung up between third and home, but Rockett alertly scampered all the way to third base during the rundown. That set up Wilson to launch a sac fly into right field, scoring Rockett to give the Revs the lead.

Now in line for the win, Micah Owings pitched into the eighth for the first time this season and got the first out. Ricardo Gomez came on with a man on first and left him stranded at third. Mike DeMark followed with a scoreless ninth for the save.

"[Owings] was moving the ball pretty well tonight," said Tejeda. "We got on the same page, I put my fingers down, and we made a good game of it."

Owings (7-4) allowed just three runs (one earned) on four hits in a season-high 7.1 innings, walking two and striking out two on 101 pitches. Daryl Thompson (4-9) suffered the loss after allowing all four Revs runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings. DeMark's save was his 34th of the season and 38th as a Rev, extending both of his records.

After a pair of scoreless innings to start, Alfredo Marte led off the third inning with a double, and Eric Garcia doubled on the very next pitch to make it 1-0. Gary Brown followed by laying down a bunt toward third base that Owings grabbed and threw over the head of Kevin Rivers at first base, allowing Garcia to score. Bryant Nelson bunted the next pitch to the same spot and Owings again had trouble, bouncing it past Rivers to bring in Brown.

The Revs wasted no time answering the Blue Crabs' big inning. Wilson slammed a one-out double to the base of the wall in left center and advanced to third on a Travis Witherspoon single. Witherspoon promptly stole second, and Jared Mitchell singled to right to plate both men and make it 3-2.

Owings settled down after his pair of errors, retiring 11 in a row from the end of the third through the seventh. He lost the streak after Marte walked with one out in the top of the seventh but shook it off, inducing a flyout and groundout to get through the frame and set up the post-stretch heroics.

Tejeda led the offensive charge for York, going 3-for-3 with his ninth home run of the season. Witherspoon went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base, and Mitchell stretched his hitting streak to four games with the two-run single in the third.

Marte and Garcia each doubled for Southern Maryland, accounting for the team's only extra-base hits of the night.

Notes: Owings' 7.1 innings mark his longest start since September 18, 2007, when he pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout for the Arizona Diamondbacks at home against the San Francisco Giants. The Revs now have 41 comeback wins this season, extending a club record. Witherspoon now has 28 stolen bases for York (35 overall), matching Scott Grimes' 2010 total for fifth in franchise history. York is 15-3 in one-run home games this season. With 71 wins, the Revs have clinched their fifth winning season in franchise history and first since 2014. Frank Gailey (5-4, 3.04) gets the nod for the Revs against the Blue Crabs' Brian Grening (9-5, 3.16) on Wednesday night. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:10 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Will DeBoer on the call. Wednesday is the season's final edition of Kids Eat Free Wednesday presented by PeoplesBank. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at yorkrevolution.com, on the phone at (717) 801-HITS, or in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
