Trenton Thunder News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - After taking a prompt 2-0 advantage in the first inning, the Thunder quickly saw their lead disappear and never recovered, falling to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3-2 at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday night.
Devyn Bolasky singled to lead off the game for the Thunder (52-44), and Zack Zehner followed with a walk. After a flyout and a fielder's choice grounder, Kyle Holder lined a double to right field. Both runners scored on the play, but Holder was thrown out at third attempting to stretch his hit into a triple.
In the bottom half, Kevin Taylor followed a Levi Michael single with an RBI-triple, and Tomas Nido plated Taylor as the tying run with a single off Thunder starter Ryan Bollinger. After reliever David Roseboom tossed a scoreless second inning in early relief of Binghamton (46-50) starter Ricky Knapp, Tim Tebow led off the bottom half with a single and later scored the go-ahead run from third on a passed ball by Thunder catcher Ryan Lidge.
Roseboom went on to strike out four batters over three scoreless innings of work before giving way to fellow left-hander Daniel Zamora, who also pitched three scoreless. Ryder Ryan tossed the final two innings for Binghamton to record the save, as Trenton did not manage another run.
The Thunder managed just four scattered hits after the first inning and left the tying run stranded three times.
Your Thunder continue the series on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Rumble Ponies. RHP Michael King (3-2, 2.40) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Harol Gonzalez (0-1, 7.50) will go for Binghamton.
Pre-game coverage begins at 6:50pm on 920 AM The Jersey and online at www.TrentonThunder.com/Broadcast.
