Boise's Sanders Headed for NFL Tryout

Boise Burn News Release

(Boise, ID) Boise Burn defensive back/kick returner Terrance Sanders has translated his phenomenal on-field success into a tryout with the NFL's St. Louis Rams.

"I'm excited beyond belief," Sanders said. "This is a moment you work hard your entire life for and I am getting the opportunity to go and finally realize my dream."

He leaves Boise Wednesday for the tryout. If the Rams offer him a spot in training camp, he will not return to the Burn. If he is not offered a spot, he is expected back in time for Boise's regular-season finale against Spokane on Saturday.

The Eastern Illinois product leads the af2 in kickoff return average (29.7). He is tied for the league lead in kickoffs returned for touchdowns (7) and is among the league leaders in interceptions (7) and missed-field goal return average (31.7).

Sanders leads the Burn in tackles (80.5) and his seven kickoff returns for touchdowns is more than the entire team had in 2007 and 2008 combined. He is a two-time af2 Ironman of the Week, earning the honors for his performance on April 25 at Central Valley and May 30 at home against Amarillo.

He's also the second Burn player to receive an NFL tryout this season. Offensive Kyle DeVan signed with the Indianapolis Colts earlier this spring after playing three games in Boise.

NOTE: Boise fell from fourth to sixth in the final af2 Coaches Poll of the season following last weekend's loss at South Georgia. Spokane remained no. 1 while Arkansas and Bossier-Shreveport - the two teams Boise could face in the first round of the af2 playoffs on August 1-are both ranked in the top ten.

The Burn (12-3) concludes the regular season Saturday night by hosting Spokane (14-1). Game time is 7:10 PM at Qwest Arena. Tickets are available by calling the Qwest Arena box office at 208.331.TIXS or visiting www.boiseburn.com
