
Allen, Bird Named to Midseason All-NBA G-League Team

PORTLAND, Maine - The NBA G League announced today that Maine Red Claws rookies Kadeem Allen and Jabari Bird have been named to the Midseason All-NBA G League East Team.
Both Allen and Bird are under Two-Way Contracts with the Boston Celtics. Allen, a guard out of Arizona, was a 2nd Round (53rd overall) selection by Boston in the 2017 NBA Draft. In 24 games with Maine this season, Allen is averaging 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game, and is among the league leaders in steals, averaging 2.6 per game. Allen is currently with the Celtics on his two-way contract.
Bird, a guard out of California, was also a 2nd Rounder (56th overall), taken by the Celtics in the 2017 NBA Draft. In 20 games, Bird is averaging 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
The Red Claws return to action tonight at Northern Arizona. Maine returns home next Saturday, Feb. 10, to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
About the Maine Red Claws: 2017-18 marks the ninth season for the Maine Red Claws. The Red Claws have been the minor league affiliate of the Boston Celtics since their inaugural season of 2009-10, and 2017-18 marks the sixth season of a"hybrid" affiliation between the two teams. Under the hybrid model, the Boston Celtics have contracted to run the basketball operations for the Maine Red Claws, including the hiring and training of the coaching and training staff as well as the all player transactions and will act as the Red Claws' sole NBA partner. The Red Claws play their home games at the Portland Expo Building. The franchise is owned and operated by Maine Basketball, LLC, which is principally owned by Bill Ryan Sr., the retired chairman of TD Bank, and Bill Ryan Jr. who serves as the team's chairman.
