Erie Otters News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Otters topped the Attack 4-3, taking the first of two games with Owen Sound in two days. Four Otters had multiple points in the victory, including three from Kyle Pettit.

After chances early on for the Otters, Jake Marchment starting the scoring with a wrist shot past Jack Flinn to give Erie a 1-0 lead halfway through the first. But with back and forth penalties, that lead didn't hold. Remi Elie was called for holding and 50 seconds later Santino Centorame tied the game. Marchment was sent off for tripping and Petrus Palmu found the back of the net to give Owen Sound a 2-1 lead to carry into intermission.

An early penalty kill gave the Otters some momentum back. Betz put two quick shots on net that Flinn denied. With 3:01 to go, Chris Bigras was sent to the box for elbowing Connor McDavid. With Otters buzzing around the net, Kurtis MacDermid put the puck on net and Pettit poked it in, taking the net with him. The play was reviewed and the puck crossed the line first, tying the game at two with 58 seconds to go.

Elie was denied once by Flinn, but at the beginning of the third, he wouldn't be denied again. Fifty five seconds in, McDavid and Darren Raddysh found Elie who popped the puck into the back of the net for the Erie lead. The lead only lasted about a minute and a half before Palmu netted his second of the night.

Troy Donnay fed a beautiful pass to McDavid two minutes later and the captain flew up ice on a breakaway, flipping the puck over Flinn's pads from the left side to put the Otters back ahead. The Otters killed two penalties to Donnay, keeping the Attack off the board. Betz nearly scored on a two-on-one for a two-goal lead, but Flinn made the save. In a final scramble, Owen Sound used their time out before pulling Flinn for an extra attacker. The Otters pressed into the offensive zone, but a strong defensive effort from the Attack denied the empty net before time ran out on Erie's 4-3 victory.

McDavid continued his scoring streak, extending it to 17 games. Raddysh, MacDemid, and McDavid all notched two points in the victory and Williams made 21 saves. Baptiste's point streak came to an end at seven games, while MacDermid extended his own to three games.

The Otters welcome Owen Sound back to Erie Insurance Arena Saturday night at 7 p.m. for the final time this season.
