Maine Celtics News Release

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - November 16, 2014 - Thanks to some help from the Boston Celtics, the Maine Red Claws improved to 2-0 on the season with a wild 81-80 win at Fort Wayne Sunday evening.

Dwight Powell and James Young - both assigned to Maine from Boston - both started for the Red Claws and led the team in scoring. Powell finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds in a monster performance. Young, meanwhile, also poured in 21 points to go with 5 boards.

Chris Babb finished with 15 points in the win. It was a back-and-forth game throughout. There were 14 lead changes, and the game was tied 16 different times. Maine's other two starters proved huge down the stretch.

In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Christian Watford buried a huge three pointer to put the Red Claws up four. A former Indiana University star, Watford showed he's still a clutch performer - it was Watford's only three points of the game.

With the game tied at 80, rookie point guard Tim Frazier raced down the floor and drew a foul with :0.4 left. Frazier made the first free throw, and missed the second. Fort Wayne had no time left and Maine was victorious again.

Andre Emmett led the Mad Ants (0-2) with 22 points.

The Red Claws now travel back to Portland. Maine's home opener is next Friday, November 21 vs. Canton. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Claws then play Delaware at the Expo on Sunday, November 23 at 5 p.m.
