Green Delivers Walkoff for Second Straight Night

For the second straight night, the Erie SeaWolves walked off in style as they prevailed 7-4 over the Altoona Curve at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves struck in the first inning. Devon Travis got aboard with a two-out single, advanced to second on a hit-by-pitch on Dean Green and scored on a Steven Moya base hit for a 1-0 lead.

The Curve immediately responded in the second against Erie starter Warwick Sapuold . Andy Vasquez reached on a base hit, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

The SeaWolves regained the lead in the fourth. Green led off with a single and scored on a Jason Krizan two-run home run to right making it 3-1. The home run for Krizan was his sixth.

Erie went ahead 4-1 in the home half the sixth when Moya blasted a solo home run to straight away center. The home run for Moya was his 30th of the season. He joins Kurt Airoso (34 in 2004) and Mike Rivera (33 in 2001) as the only SeaWolves in club history with 30 home run seasons.

The Curve started trimming their deficit in the seventh as Allie Stetson led off with a walk, advanced to second on a Vasquez groundout, reached third on a wild pitch, and was brought home a Willy Garcia knock. Garcia moved to third on a Dan Gamache double and scored on a wild pitch making it 4-3.

Altoona tied the game in the top of the ninth when Vasquez lined a solo home run off of reliever Jose Valdez. The tie game gave Saupold a no-decision. He allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

In the ninth, the SeaWolves would summon the late inning magic for a second straight night. With one out, Collin Balester walked Jamie Johnson and Corey Jones putting the winning run in scoring position. With two outs, Green worked a 3-2 count before ending the game with a three-run blast to straight away center.

Valdez (2-2 ) earned the win allowing a run on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts in an inning of work.
