
Senators Swept in Doubleheader

The New Britain Rock Cats won 5-1 and 9-0 to sweep the doubleheader over the Harrisburg Senators on Saturday night at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats' Virgil Vasquez pitched a seven-inning no-hitter in game two.
The Senators recieved a complete game performance by John Simms in the opener. The righty pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and five runs. Simms walked none and struck out five. Quincy Latimore reached three times in the first game, with a double and two walks. Cutter Dykstra knocked in the lone Senators run with a sacrifice fly. Caleb Ramsey also lined his 16th double of the season into the right-centerfield gap.
Brian Dupra pitched the first two innings of game two, allowing four runs (two earned) along with three walks and three strikeouts. Paul Demny followed with 1.1 innings in which he surrendered two runs on three hits. Sam Runion inherited runners on second and third with one out, but stranded both on his way to 1.2 scoreless innings. Tyler Herron allowed three runs on two hits in his one inning of work. The only base runner for Harrisburg in game two was Kevin Keyes, who reached on an error.
Tomorrow afternoon the Rock Cats and Senators will play the finale of a four-game set beginning at 1:35 p.m. The Senators' Zach Kroenke will face fellow lefty Jason Wheeler.
