Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
This Thursday, June 13, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans will try to get luck back on their side. The team has experienced wet weather this season while on the field the team has currently lost 12 of its last 14 games including six straight at TicketReturn.com Field. This coming Thursday, the Pelicans are calling every available hand to assist the team in its attempt to "REVERSE THE CURSE" presented by Massage Envy. All the while, the Pelicans will be raising money for those who have experienced true misfortune due to weather in an outreach to benefit victims of the tornado in Oklahoma.
With it being "Super Hero Night" at the park, the Pelicans are calling on fans to dress up as their favorite super hero to help bring down evil and a create reversal of fortune. The Pelicans are also asking area religious leaders and their followers to help in the effort with a pre-game blessing of the team and TicketReturn.Com Field as the region prepares for the arrival of hurricane season.
"Something has happened over that the last two months that is hard to explain," Vice President and General Manager Andy Milovich said. "We clearly need luck back on our side to bring us summer weather and some more wins during the final playoff push. Hopefully, with the help of our fans and community, we can bring down the curse and contribute to a good cause in the process. The victims of the tornadoes in Oklahoma have experienced true misfortune and it is our hope to lend a helping hand."
Through fundraising online and at the ballpark, the Pelicans will be donating proceeds to the tornado victims in Oklahoma. In addition, Manager Jason Wood's daughters will help collect books to donate to the elementary schools devastated in Moore, Okla. Fans who participate in the book drive will receive half-price admission.
An action packed Thursday is planned at Pelicans Ballpark. The night will be filled with various activities to help create a reversal of fortunes. Planned activities include the use of rabbits' feet, stadium wide salt tossing, horseshoes, Brady Bunch tiki dolls, and a celebration of baseball superstitions. The team also plans to convert the team's In-Flight Magazine into a mock Sports Illustrated cover featuring the Legion of Doom characters under black rainy clouds in an effort to impose the well-known SI jinx on the negative forces harassing the team.
Whether you like Spiderman, Superman or Batman or another action hero, come to the game dressed as your favorite super hero and participate in a pre-game ceremony to ward off evil.
