Calgary Stampeders News Release

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive lineman Shawn Lemon and import quarterback Jimmy Coy have signed with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Lemon appeared in 12 regular-season games, including 11 starts, for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2012 and shared the team lead with six sacks. He also had 16 tackles, two pass knockdowns, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Lemon played one game for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2011. He played college football at Akron and was all-Mid-America Conference as a senior.

Coy recently attended mini-camp with the Chicago Bears after concluding a standout career at Saint Xavier University. In 2012, Coy was named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics player of the year and was also the Mid-States Football Association's player of the year and a first-team conference all-star. Despite missing two games with an injury, Coy ranked third in the country with 3,427 passing yards. In 2011, he earned first-team all-star honours and led the Cougars to the national title as he completed 347 of 510 passes for 4,261 yards and 42 touchdowns, with just 11 interceptions. He added 269 yards and four touchdowns along the ground.

In other transaction news, the Stamps have released import defensive lineman Kevin Dixon, who did not pass his physical on Saturday, and placed import quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who was experiencing passport issues, on the suspended list.

The Stamps' main camp, presented by bet365.net, gets under way today with sessions at 9:05 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.
