Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA - In the team's first game home after a rough road trip, infielder Brian Hernandez provided top plays offensively and defensively for the Inland Empire 66ers (28-24) Tuesday night in an 8-5 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm (15-37) recorded their third win in their last four games. Hernandez was 2-for-4 on the effort with three.
Hernandez delivered under pressure right from the start Thursday. He came to the plate with runners in scoring position and two out in the 1st inning and immediately delivered with a two run double up the left field line. Then with the game tied in the 6th his single scored the game winning run for the 66ers.
Defensively Hernandez led a strong effort from the 66ers. The third baseman's bare handed play in the 7th was one of the top plays of the day along with a spectacular 6-4-3 double play in the 3rd that saw Eric Stamets make an acrobatic flip to second before Yarbrough fired the ball to first to finish the inning.
Inland Empire will matchup with the Storm again for game two of the series Friday night at San Manuel Stadium. In addition to being 50 cent Friday presented by Toyota and Scion of Redlands it will be Super Hero night at the ballpark, and the game will be followed by a fireworks extravaganza presented by RE/MAX Advantage and Lakeside. The game can be heard on AM 1050 KCAA starting with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians pre-game show at 6:55 PM.
