
Patriots Win 5-2 to Even Series with Barnstormers

Lancaster, PA - The Somerset Patriots (21-9) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (14-18) 5-2 Wednesday night from humid Clipper Magazine Stadium. The two squads have now split the first two games of this three game midweek series featuring these Freedom Division foes.
In the top of the first inning center fielder Luis Montanez hit a two RBI double down the left field line to give Somerset an early 2-0 advantage.
Somerset added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning as third baseman Corey Smith blasted a two run home run (4) to deep left-center field to expand the lead to 4-0.
Right fielder Ryan Harvey smashed a solo home run (8) to right-center field to get Lancaster on the scoreboard making the contest 4-1.
Harvey slapped a RBI single through the right side in the home half of the sixth inning to dwindle the deficit to 4-2.
The Patriots tacked on a run in the top of the seventh inning as designated hitter Jake Fox slugged his Atlantic League leading 10th home run of the year making the score 5-2 which would be the final.
Starter Josh Lowey (4-1) earned the win. Opposing starter Dwayne Pollok (3-2) suffered the loss. Jon Hunton pitched a scoreless ninth inning to notch his league leading 12th save of the year.
