FC Dallas To Take On Fort Lauderdale In Third Round of U.S. Open Cup

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas has drawn NASL club, Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the third round of the 100th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. That match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, May 28 from Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Strikers advanced, 7-6, in penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw in regulation and overtime against USL Premier Development League side Laredo Heat yesterday. Fort Lauderdale is currently seventh in the NASL standings with a record of 1-4-1.

Having competed in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup since 1996, FC Dallas has forged a record of 25-14-0 all-time in the competition. FC Dallas won the tournament in 1997, two years before the competition was rebranded in honor of FC Dallas' eventual owner, Lamar Hunt.
