Sporting KC and Dynamo Set For May 26 Rematch

May 20, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Sporting Kansas City News Release

Two weeks ago, Sporting Kansas City became the first MLS team to leave BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston with a victory.

The 1-0 result ended Dynamo's 30-game home undefeated streak in league play, and 36-game streak in all competitions - both MLS records. On Sunday they meet again - 3:30 p.m. ET at Sporting Park, on NBC Sports Network.

"I have said this since you guys started talking about the streak; it's given teams that come in here more motivation. Have you ever seen them come in here after the game, and go running around screaming in the tunnel? I haven't," said Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell after the 1-0 SKC win. "So, they obviously feel that they have accomplished something great. Credit to them for getting the result, but that's not going to break us as a team."

Last weekend, the Dynamo lost at home again, dropping a 2-0 decision to the New England Revolution.

The past two postseasons, Houston has eliminated Sporting KC, and both teams are in playoff position again with a third of the season gone.

"I think this game is always special for us. For the last two years, they have beaten us in the playoffs. We have a rivalry against them," said SKC defender Aurélien Collin, the goal scorer in Houston. "We wanted to prove to them and to ourselves ... that we are still one of the best teams when we play our game."
