(Rochester, NY) - Red Wings first baseman Chris Colabello has been named the International League Player-of-the-Week for a second time this season, the league announced this morning.

Over the past seven days Colabello led the IL with 15 hits, a .586 average, 10 RBI, a .594 on-base percentage, and a 1.071 slugging percentage. He hit safely in all seven games, collecting multiple hits five times. Nine of his 15 hits went for extra bases, including three home runs to tie for the IL lead with 11 on the season. Colabello now also paces the circuit with 61 hits, 28 extra-base hits, and 17 doubles.

In fact, not many players in all of baseball had a better week than the Red Wings 29-year-old Triple-A rookie. His 1.665 OPS was tops in all of baseball, his nine extra-base hits ranked 2nd in the game and his .586 batting average was the 4th-best mark among all minor league and major league players.

Colabello is currently riding an 11-game hit streak over which he's hitting .500 (21-for-42) with 12 extra-base hits (nine doubles, three home runs), 12 RBI and a 1.491 OPS. Furthermore, the Framingham, Mass. native has recorded a hit in 20 of his last 21 games with 11 multi-hit efforts over that span.

Colabello also claimed IL POTW honors for the first week of the 2013 season, April 4-7.

Colabello and the Wings play game three of a four-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) tonight at 7:05 p.m. from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. Rochester returns to the Flower City on Thursday to open an eight-game homestand against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) at 7:05 p.m.
