York Revolution News Release

For the eighth time already this season, the York Revolution scored double figures in a game. On Wednesday night, they did it in one inning. York hung ten runs on the Long Island Ducks in the top of the fourth and never looked back, overcoming an early deficit for a 14-8 win in front of 4,080 fans at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip, NY. The win sets up a series rubber match in the final game of the road trip on Thursday before the Revs return home for a seven-game homestand beginning Friday night against the Lancaster Barnstormers.

The Revs offense tuned up over the first three innings of the game, totaling five singles despite leaving all five runners on base against Ducks starter John Brownell, who to that point, had not allowed a run in 10 total innings against the Revs this season. Meanwhile, Long Island had built a 3-0 lead, thanks to a two-run homer to right by Adam Bailey in the second, and an RBI double to left from Ray Navarrete in the third.

Brownell (1-3) was knocked out in the fourth inning, however, charged with seven of the ten runs that the Revs put up. The 10-run inning is the second biggest single inning in franchise history.

James Shanks drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to right field, and in doing so, moved past Jason Aspito and into sole possession of second on the Revs' all-time career RBI list with 189. Ruddy Yan tied the score with a two-run double down the third base line, and Andres Perez gave York the lead with a single to center, making it a 4-3 game. Andy Marte ended Brownell's night with a three-run homer into the York bullpen in left field, his fifth of the season, increasing his league-leading RBI total to 29.

Jeff Fiorentino greeted reliever James Houser with a triple to right field continuing the rally. Wilson Batista then got on base with a walk. Salvador Paniagua then chipped in with a sacrifice fly to left, as the Revs' first two outs made in the inning both came on sac flies. Shanks then capped the outburst with a two-run homer to left-center, his first of the season and 41st of his Revolution career, fourth most all-time.

Brian Burgamy added a two-run homer to right in the fifth, and Batista launched another two-run shot to right field in the eighth. The four home runs were the most hit by the Revs in a game since June 30, 2012. Every starter had at least one hit and scored a run, as the 18 hits tied a season-best. Eight of the nine starters had multiple hits.

Kris Regas (1-1) earned the win in relief, working three innings. His first two innings were scoreless, before being charged with four runs in the sixth on a series of well-placed hits. Gabe Suarez and Dan Lyons provided RBI singles, while the other two runs scored on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by P.J. Phillips.

Danny Perales skied a sac fly to center in the eighth for Long Island's final tally.

The Revs are now 4-2 when allowing eight runs or more in a game this season after Wednesday's high-scoring victory.

Notes: Batista (2-for-4) is now on a six-game hitting streak, and has scored five runs in the first two games of the series... Graham's double in the fourth extended his hitting streak to seven games... Perez (3-for-6) now has multiple hits in seven of his last nine games, batting .419 on that stretch... Shanks (2-for-4) now has 370 hits in his Revolution career, four shy of matching Scott Grimes' all-time club record... York righty Corey Thurman (1-4, 3.86) will face Ducks southpaw Matt Way (1-1, 3.76) in Thursday's finale at 6:35 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
