Zebulon, N.C. - The Lynchburg Hillcats snapped a three-game skid by mashing four home runs in a 10-3 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Friday night at Five County Stadium. The long balls broke the current franchise record for home runs allowed in one game by Carolina. The Mudcats had allowed three in one game on two previous occasions.

The Hillcats (17-15) never trailed as the Mudcats (13-21) dropped their fourth straight at home. A.J. Holland improved to 3-1 by holding Carolina to three runs, on earned, over 5.2 innings. He allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out one.

Jacob Lee (0-3) suffered the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits. He hurled 5.2 frames, allowing two home runs, two walks and struck out a pair.

William Beckwith launched a mammoth shot over the right-center wall to put Lynchburg ahead 1-0 in the first. The Hillcats added three more in the third. Elmer Reyes singled to start the rally, and moved to second when Matt Lipka was hit by a pitch.

A double steal and throwing error plated Reyes for a 2-0 lead. Emerson Landoni was hit by a pitch, to put two on. A wild pitch and another throwing error scored Lipka for a 3-0 lead. Robby Hefflinger singled home Landoni to put the Hillcats further out front, 4-0.

Carolina responded with three in their half of the third. Yhoxian Medina reached on an error, and singles by Tyler Naquin and Francisco Lindor loaded the bases. Jordan Smith punched a single to center, scoring two. A groundout by Luigi Rodriguez brought home Lindor, and cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Mudcats would draw no closer. The Hillcats cracked a trio of two-run homers over the final innings with Reyes sending one off the left field scoreboard in the sixth. Will Skinner equaled Reyes' shot in the eighth, and Beckwith blasted his second of the night off the right field scoreboard.

Carolina continues their series with Lynchburg on Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. The Mudcats will give away a Mini Muddy garden gnome, presented by Kerr Drug, to the first 1,200 kids entering the ballpark. Purchase tickets today by calling (919) 269-2287, or visiting carolinamudcats.com.
