Timbers open two-game week at FC Dallas on Wednesday

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers, on a seven-match unbeaten streak, open a two-game week Wednesday on the road as they face Western Conference leader FC Dallas at FC Dallas Stadium at 6 p.m. (Pacific). The Timbers then return home to play host to Chivas USA at JELD-WEN Field on Sunday at 2 p.m. (Pacific).

Wednesday's match will be televised on ROOT SPORTS, while Sunday's fixture will be featured on KPTV. Both matches will feature live radio broadcasts on 750 The Game and in Spanish on La Pantera 940AM.

Portland (3-1-5, 14pts) extended its MLS club-record unbeaten run to seven games last week with a scoreless draw against the New England Revolution; it was the club's third shutout in the last five games. The Timbers enter the week tied with the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake in second place in the Western Conference.

The Timbers head out on the road for a third time in four games for Wednesday's matchup against FC Dallas. The Timbers are unbeaten on the road this season and own an overall road unbeaten streak of five games dating back to the 2012 campaign. Portland is the only MLS club without a road loss this season and is tied for the best road winning percentage (.625) in the league. With seven goals scored on the road, the Timbers rank among league leaders in goal-scoring away from home.

The Timbers and FC Dallas (6-1-2, 20pts) enter Wednesday on individual seven-match unbeaten runs; the two clubs are tied for the longest unbeaten string in MLS this season. The two sides rank among league leaders in goal scoring. The Timbers defeated FC Dallas in their very first meeting on April 17, 2011, at JELD-WEN Field, but the Hoops have earned either a win or a draw in each of the last four meetings to take a lead in the all-time MLS series between the teams. FC Dallas is off to a 5-0-0 start at home this season, where they have allowed just two goals.

On Sunday, the Timbers welcome Chivas USA (3-4-2, 11pts) to JELD-WEN Field for the lone time during the 2013 regular season. The Timbers have shut out each of their last three opponents at JELD-WEN Field, posting a run of 300 consecutive minutes at home without allowing a goal. Chivas USA has lost three of their last four games and recently suffered a 4-0 defeat at Sporting Kansas City on May 5. The Timbers are 1-4-0 in the all-time MLS series against Chivas USA, recording a 1-0 win on Aug. 24, 2011, at JELD-WEN Field. Portland will visit Chivas USA twice over the final seven matches of the regular season on Sept. 14 and Oct. 26 at The Home Depot Center.
