United Drives to Collect Children's Toys

Washington, D.C. (May 7, 2013) -Through its United Drives program, D.C. United collects items at select home games to benefit non-profit organizations within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. During the month of May, D.C. United will collect new children's toys to benefit the Children's Center. This month's drive will be held on May 25 as the Black-and-Red take on the Portland Timbers. Items donated can include board games, dolls, and action figures. Buy tickets here .

The Children's Center, located in Southeast DC, is a community center in an area that is plagued with drug use and crime. The Children's Center offers homework assistance, computer education, arts and crafts, organized team sports, and a mid-afternoon snack. Donations collected at United's game will help provides birthday and holiday gifts to children who otherwise may not receive presents.

The United Drives booth is located outside of RFK Stadium's Gate A and will open an hour and a half prior to kickoff, closing 15 minutes into the first half. Any fan that donates an item will receive a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket voucher good for any D.C. United regular season home game as well as a United promotional item, as a thank you from the club. Donations are also accepted in the D.C. United offices on non-game days, located on the fourth floor of RFK Stadium
