Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - Barons starter Spencer Arroyo (2-1, 2.36) tossed 7.0 shutout innings Wednesday night in a 2-0 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts in front of 2,980 fans at Regions Field.

Dan Black continued his torrid hitting with an RBI single in the first inning, scoring Trayce Thompson to give the Barons an early 1-0 lead. Thompson would drive in the Barons' last run of the game with a sacrifice fly to deep center field in the third.

The two runs would be more than enough for Arroyo who allowed just three hits over 7.0 dominant innings while striking out three. Kevin Vance recorded the final six outs of the game to pick up his second save of the season. The Barons are 9-for-9 in save opportunities so far this season.

With the win the Barons improved to 16-10 and 9-2 at Regions Field. The loss went to Lookouts starter Zack Lee (2-2, 2.56) who allowed two runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings as the Lookouts fell to 11-15 on the year.

The Barons will look to make it four wins in a row tomorrow night as White Sox left-hander John Danks takes the hill in a rehab appearance with the Barons. He'll be opposed by LHP Chris Reed (1-1, 3.30). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
