
Javier Baez Named FSL Player of the Week

Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida State League announced, Monday, that Daytona Cubs shortstop Javier Baez has been named Florida State League Player of the Week for the week ending April 28th.
In six games, Baez (20) batted .435 (10-23), with two home runs and three doubles. Baez also drove in six runs and scored five times. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native slugged .826 during the week.
From Monday to Sunday, Baez raised his batting average .55 points, from .208 to .263. Baez currently leads the Daytona Cubs in home runs (five), runs scored (16), extra-base hits (13), sacrifice flies (three), at-bats (95), and is tied for the team-lead in triples with two.
Baez was selected by the Chicago Cubs with the ninth overall pick of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
The Daytona Cubs and Palm Beach Cardinals are set to play game two of a four-game series tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Daytona has won three of its last four games.
