The Florida State League named the Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period April 22 - 28, 2013.
The Player of the Week was Daytona Cubs Infielder Javier Baez. In six (6) games he collected ten (10) hits in 23 plate appearances for a .435 batting average. His hits included two (2) homeruns and three (3) doubles. He drove in six (6) runs and scored five (5) times. His OBP was .480 and his slugging average was .826. Javier is in his third year of professional baseball and resides in Jacksonville, FL.
The Pitcher of the Week was Dunedin Blue Jays Right-hander Casey Lawrence. He started one (1) game, recorded a win, and had a 0.00 ERA. In eight (8) innings pitched he gave up five (5) hits, no runs, issued no walks, and struck out nine (9) batters. Casey is in his fourth year of professional baseball and was born in McSherrytown, PA.
