DURHAM, NC - Durham Bulls infielder Vince Belnome has been named International League Batter of the Week for the period from April 22-28. A torrid week at the plate and a part in a Triple Play turn helped him become the first Bull to earn the honor this season. Norfolk's Freddy Garcia was named IL Pitcher of the Week.

Belnome led the International League over the past week with a .500 batting average, three home runs, 11 RBI, a 1.050 slugging percentage, and seven runs scored. The highlights of his week include a pair of four-hit games as well as crushing a grand slam in Friday's 5-4 Bulls victory over Toledo. In the 6th inning of Friday's game, the second baseman made defensive history by helping turn the first triple play for Durham in nearly eight years. On the season, Belnome is 5th in the League with a .364 batting average.

The 25-year-old is in his fifth season as a professional player and first in the Tampa Bay organization. He spent the majority of the 2012 season with Tucson of the Pacific Coast League where he hit .275 with five home runs and 33 RBI.

The Durham Bulls continue their current road trip tonight in Syracuse, NY. Tickets for all home games are available the DBAP box office, by calling 919.956.BULL or at durhambulls.com.
