Before the end of the period, Barrie would net another goal to give them a 2-1 advantage going into the intermission. Shots on goal favoured Barrie 17-6 after the first period.

Niagara would fight back as Mack Lemmon would score his fourth of the year at the halfway point in the period, to cut the Barrie lead to one. The offensive pressure would continue as Ryan Strome would score Niagara's third goal of the game and his 100th goal as an IceDog to tie the game at 3-3. Unfortunately, Barrie would score to again take the lead two minutes later to make it 4-3. Fighting hard, Niagara's Mack Lemmon would score his second of the game to again tie things up at four with under a minute to play. The second period ended with both teams deadlocked at 4-4. Shots on goal in the period were 9-8 for Niagara.

Midway through the third period, despite an outstanding effort by goaltender Chris Festarini, video review would credit Barrie with their fifth goal of the night and tie the game up again at 5-5. With four minutes left to play, Barrie would take the lead again and despite a valiant effort by the IceDogs to find the equalizer, the game would finish a 6-5 final.
