Florida Panthers Recall Jacob Markstrom and Nolan Yonkman

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers Executive VP/General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled G Jacob Markstrom and D Nolan Yonkman from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). In addition, the club announced that G Jose Theodore and D Dmitry Kulikov have been placed on injured reserve.

Markstrom, 23, earns his second recall this season and has played in two games with Florida stopping 65 of 71 against Pittsburgh (Feb. 22) and Boston (24), before being reassigned to San Antonio on Feb. 25. The Gavle, Sweden, native has posted a .919 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average in 10 career NHL games (2-7-1).

Markstrom has played in 33 games with San Antonio this season going 16-15-2 with a 2.65 GAA and a .920 save percentage. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound goaltender has surrendered two or fewer goals in 11 of his last 16 starts and has posted an 8-4-0 record in his last 12 starts. He is currently fourth in the league in saves (994) and owns a 10-5-2 record in games where he makes at least 30 stops.

Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the second round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Yonkman, 31, earns his first recall this season after posting six points (0-6-6) and 61 PIM in 55 games with San Antonio. The 6-foot-6 defenseman has played in 67 NHL games in his career, registering nine points (1-8-9) along with 129 PIM.
