
Steelheads' 36 Shots Not Enough to Beat Niederberger's Colts

Mississauga, ON - Mathias Niederberger has an active 145:30 shutout streak against Mississauga, whose Colts clinched the Central Division title tonight. The Steelheads offensive struggles on home ice continue. Mississauga outshot Barrie 36 - 32 in the game.
The Steelheads generated 21 shots and ample scoring chances in the opening frame, including a Josh Burnside partial breakaway late in the period. Mark Scheifele collected the lose puck in the corner, found a streaking Andreas Athanasiou, who missed the net on his chance.
Tyler Fawcett opened the scoring, collecting a Scheifele rebound in the slot, and beating Tyson Teichmann for his 10th goal of the year. Barrie outshot the Steelheads 15 - 2 in the period, including two power play opportunities.
Kristoff Kontos had Mississauga's best scoring chance to equalize but hit the crossbar with six minutes remaining. Anthony Camara scored into an empty net to seal the Steelheads' fate with 26 seconds remaining.
