Owen Sound Attack News Release
Bruce Telecom will be presenting the action tonight and it will be a playoff like atmosphere in Owen Sound tonight when the Kitchener Rangers come to town. The Attack is just two points up on the Rangers for 3rd spot in the Western Conference and both teams have played 60 games up until this point. Not only are the Attack, Rangers and Plymouth Whalers battling for position, they are also battling with Barrie and Belleville for high point total. The team with the highest point total in the OHL Final receives home ice advantage, regardless of seeding.
In a pre-game ceremony this evening, three gentlemen will be honoured for their life saving heroics of Brett MacLean at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre last July. Tonight is also the kickoff to the Shorty's Classic Grill Eat Your Heart Out Dinner, which will take place this Sunday. Fans can bid on brunch with their favourite Attack player during Friday and Saturday's game.
The 4-2 loss in Barrie last night ended a five game winning streak by the Attack that saw them allow just two goals/game in each of those wins. The four goals against by the Attack was the most goals allowed in a game since a loss on February 9th in Plymouth.
Friday, March-01-13: Kitchener Rangers @ Owen Sound Attack - The Rangers will have Ryan Murphy back in their line-up tonight after he was returned to Kitchener by the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes 1st Round Pick in the 2011 NHL Draft was recalled last week on an emergency basis by the Hurricanes. Radek Faksa is set to return to the line-up for the Rangers while goaltender John Gibson is still sidelined with a lower body injury. It is expected that Joel Vienneau will get the call between the pipes for the Rangers.
Look Out For - Matt Puempel is set to score 30 goals for the third time in his career as the veteran forward sits on 29 goals. The Attack is just hoping he doesn't hit 30 on their watch. Puempel, an Ottawa Senators 1st Rounder in 2011 has only suited up in 44 games this season, but is a career .60 go al per game scorer.
Standing room tickets are available at the Attack Box Office.
Game time tonight is 7:30pm.
