Blades Look for 18th Straight Win Tomorrow; Playoff Tickets on Sale
Published on February 28, 2013 under Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades are looking to stretch their franchise record consecutive win streak to 18 games tomorrow night as they play host to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
The Blades are coming off of a big 3-2 shootout win over the Calgary Hitmen last night. In that game, Brett Stovin scored both goals in regulation, Nathan Burns had the shootout winner and Andrey Makarov made 46 saves in total as the Blades stretched their streak to 17.
Saskatoon will be looking to make history in a few different ways in the game tomorrow, including the fact that Head Coach and GM Lorne Molleken sits on 599 career WHL coaching wins. He's 2nd all-time and will be the second coach to ever crack 600 when it happens. The Blades are also looking for Josh Nicholls to hit 300 points tomorrow night. He's currently at 299 in his career and will be only the 9th Blade to crack 300 career points. It's all part of a big game as we celebrate Nicholls as the Children's Wish/Acklands-Grainger Point Man!
