Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - Taking both wins of the two-game series, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 3-2 over the Alaska Aces tonight in front of 7,100 fans.
The game got off to a quick start as Aces forward Shawn Skelly tallied back-to-back goals for a 2-0 Alaska lead. Wranglers center Eric Lampe cut the score in half with 88 seconds left in the period, and Wranglers left wing Adam Huxley notched just his second goal of the season five minutes into the second for the 2-2 tie.
Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon and Aces goaltender Mark Guggenberger held the third period scoreless as Alaska outshot Las Vegas 9-2. With overtime looming, the two teams went four-on-four early on matching penalties, and the 2-2 score carried over into extra time. More penalties piled up, leaving the Wranglers on the penalty kill for the final two minutes, but with nine seconds left on the clock, Wranglers center Chris Francis scored to pick up the 3-2 win from the Aces. With the victory, Las Vegas has now won their past three match-ups against Alaska going back to Monday, Jan. 21, all after regulation time.
The Wranglers make history as the world's first topless pro hockey team on Monday, Feb. 4, during "Over 18 Night" against the Colorado Eagles at 9:05 p.m. The team then heads on a four-game road stretch before returning for two games against the Idaho Steelheads, including the Wranglers Midnight Circus on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 11:59 p.m.
