Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club, in partnership with TELUS, are proud to announce the TELUS Shake up the 'Dome game raised $14,735 in food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank.
"The Calgary Food Bank provides a vital service to Calgarians year-round, but especially during the holiday season," said Monty Carter, senior vice-president, TELUS Enterprise Solutions and vice-chair of the TELUS Calgary Community Board. "The TELUS Shake up the 'Dome game is a prime example of how well our community comes together to help those in need and we are thrilled with the result."
"During this time of year we are honoured to have the opportunity to work with our partner TELUS in providing food donations and funds for the Food Bank," said Hitmen Director of Business Operations Mike Moore. "On behalf of the entire team, thank you to TELUS, Co-op, Citytv and our fans for making TELUS Shake up the 'Dome a successful event that will provide a positive impact in our community."
Sponsored by Co-op and Citytv, Hitmen fans brought non-perishable food items to the home game on Saturday, December 8 in support of the Food Bank. In addition, Co-op contributed 10,000 boxes of macaroni, resulting in 5,850 pounds of food directed to the emergency food distribution centre. The Edge School Women's Mountaineers helped support the on-site donation boxes that collected over $3,035 for the cause. Every dollar donated enables the Calgary Food Bank to distribute $4 worth of food to Calgarians in need.
