Atlanta Gladiators News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Christian Ouellet and Chris Clackson led the way Sunday, as the Gwinnett Gladiators topped the South Carolina Stingrays 2-1 at North Charleston Coliseum.

Coyotes prospect Louis Domingue made 22 saves between the pipes for the Gladiators for his second pro win, while former Gladiator Ryan Zapolski kept the Rays in it with 29 saves of his own but took the hard luck loss.

With the win Gwinnett (12-4-1-0) has prevailed in 12 of its last 14 games and sits atop the South Division and Eastern Conference. South Carolina (7-11-0-1) remains in last in the division.

Ouellet opened the scoring early, ripping a wrist shot through the five-hole of Zapolski from the far circle just 2:28 into the game. The power-play goal was assisted by Dallas Jackson and Casey Pierro-Zabotel, and the Gladiators led 1-0 through one period.

Gwinnett pushed the lead to 2-0 thanks to Clackson, who sniped a shot over the shoulder of Zapolski at 10:23 of the second. Andy Brandt chipped in the assist, but the two-goal cushion was short-lived. A little over two minutes later Rays forward Shawn Weller slid a rebound under Domingue to pull South Carolina back within one through 40 minutes.

The third period saw Gwinnett largely control the pace of play, at one point firing 11 shots in a row on the Stingray net.

Gwinnett in next in action at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 22nd at 7:05 p.m. against the Orlando Solar Bears.
