Idaho Finally Solves Utah

Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Kael Mouillierat scored twice, each assisted by Justin Dowling, and Tyler Beskorowany stopped 29 shots on Friday night as the Idaho Steelheads gutted out a 3-2 win over the Utah Grizzlies at CenturyLink Arena.

With the win, Idaho (6-2-1, 13 points) is now unbeaten in regulation in its past seven games. It's also Idaho's first win in four tries against Utah this season.

The Grizzlies struck first less than two minutes into the game when Mitch Wahl stuffed home his own rebound at the goal mouth, his second of the season, to give Utah a quick one-goal lead. Idaho got the equalizer at the 5:08 mark of the first period as Jace Coyle fed a neutral zone pass up the right-hand wing to Andrew Carroll. Carroll carried the puck to the top of the right-hand circle before sending a shot past Utah's Ryan Donovan for his team-leading sixth goal of the season, tying the game at one.

Four minutes later, Utah got back-to-back short-handed breakaways, but Tyler Beskorowany stuffed both to keep the game tied.

Idaho took the lead at 13:52 of the first on a brilliant cross-ice pass through traffic by Justin Dowling. From the top of the circle along the left-hand wall, Dowling zipped a pass through traffic to the face-off dot in the right-hand circle, right onto the tape of Kael Mouillierat who fired a one-timer past a scrambling Donovan to give Idaho a 2-1 lead after one period.

Utah would tie the game at the 13:17 mark of the second period on the power play, but Idaho would answer just 15 seconds later when a strong forecheck by Carroll created a loose puck. Carroll passed to Dowling, who touched it on to Mouillierat, who lifted a pretty backhander over Donovan's shoulder for the eventual game-winner. It was Mouillierat's fourth goal of the season and he now has points in all seven games he has played in since returning to Idaho on October 17.

Neither team would score in the third period as Idaho's penalty killers were outstanding. The Steelheads would kill off six of seven Utah power plays, while Idaho's league-leading power play was 1-for-3.
