Kingston Frontenacs News Release

The Kingston Frontenacs, coming off their 3-1 home opener win against the Barrie Colts last Friday, host the Erie Otters this Friday night and on Sunday afternoon the Niagara IceDogs for the first Friday-Sunday double-header weekend of the season.

Friday's game marks the only time that Kingston fans will have the opportunity to see 15-year-old Connor McDavid, the youngest player in the OHL this season. Granted "Exceptional Status" by the Ontario Hockey League in March of this year, McDavid was the first over all selection by the Otters in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection held in April. Last season with the Toronto Marlies McDavid had 39 goals and 72 points in just 33 games playing as 14 year old against players one year older.

On Sunday afternoon, the Black and Gold meet the Niagara IceDogs, who are currently tied for first in the Eastern Conference of the OHL, after a two win weekend to start their season. Buoyed by NHL draft picks Ryan Strome (Ist round, 5th overall in 2011by the New York Islanders), Dougie Hamilton (1st-9th overall in 2011 by Boston), Brett Ritchie (2nd- 44th Dallas 2011), Brock Beukeboom (3rd round Tampa Bay 2010), Steven Shipley (4th Buffalo 2010), Jesse Graham (6th 2012 New York Islanders) and Mitchell Theoret (7th 2012 NYI), these seven players make up the nucleus of a solid OHL club looking to make amends for their loss in the OHL finals to the London Knights last season.

Great seats are still available for these match-ups. Tickets are available in advance at the K-Rock Centre Box Office.
