
Revolution Eliminates Patriots From Playoff Contention

York, PA - The York Revolution (36-25, 72-59) defeated the Somerset Patriots (28-33, 63-68) 6-5 on Friday night from Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Patriots loss eliminates them from playoff contention.
In the top of the third inning the Patriots took an early 1-0 lead as catcher Adam Donachie clobbered a solo home run (3) to left field.
Somerset added another run in the top of the fourth inning as third baseman Corey Smith blasted a solo home run (9) to deep left field to give the Patriots a 2-0 advantage.
York tied the contest at 2-2 in the ensuing half inning as left fielder Brandon Haveman slapped a two RBI single up the middle.
York took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Right fielder Michael Hernandez would hit a RBI double and center fielder Scott Grimes would hit a RBI single.
The Patriots responded with three runs of their own in the top of the seventh frame to retake the lead at 5-4. First baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke spanked a RBI double down the left field line, another run scored on a passed ball by pitcher Chris Cody and then Yusuf Carter collected a RBI via a sacrifice fly.
Second baseman Andres Perez tied the game at 5-5 in the home half of the seventh as he a hit a solo home run (22) to left field.
In the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, Grimes notched a go ahead RBI single to give the Revolution a 6-5 lead they would not relinquish.
R.J. Rodriguez earned his third win of the season. Brian Anderson suffered his first loss of the year. Ricardo Gomez earned his 16th save as he retired the side in order in the ninth.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday, September 18th when the Patriots return home to take on the Long Island Ducks at 7:05 p.m. The game features Bark in the Park Night with a chance for all fans to bring their dog to the ballpark.
