
Thunder Break Franchise Season Home Run Record

(Trenton, NJ) - With a two-run home run by David Adams in the fourth inning on Saturday night at Akron, the Trenton Thunder Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have broken the franchise single-season home run record with 151 long balls on the year. The previous record of 150 team home runs was accomplished by the 1996 and 1999 Thunder teams.
The Thunder homerun barrage in 2012 has been lead by first baseman Luke Murton who has 24 dingers on the season, good for second in the Eastern League. Zoilo Almonte's 20 homers place him fourth in the league.
Entering play Saturday, the Thunder's home run total was tied for third in all of Minor League Baseball and the most in Double-A (High Desert, A-Advanced- 177, Sacramento, AAA- 163, New Orleans, AAA-150). The next closest EL team (Bowie) had 114. The Thunder have hit multiple home runs in an inning 19 times this season.
