Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators dropped their third straight to Bowie, 5-4 in walk-off fashion on Saturday night in Bowie. Harrisburg led 4-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before Bowie rallied in their final five at bats for the win. Justin Bloxom had a big night with two hits including a three-run triple in the fifth giving the Sens a 4-0 lead.

Brian Broderick started for the Sens and sailed through the first four innings but was touched for two runs in the fifth. Broderick left with two outs in the sixth after giving up an rbi single to Zelous Wheeler.

Brian Goodwin homered, his fifth, with one-out in the third giving Harrisburg a 1-0 lead. After Bloxom's triple in the fifth, the Sens managed just two more hits in the game, a Bloxom single in the eighth and a single by Seth Bynum in the ninth.

Bowie turned leadoff walks in the eighth and ninth innings into the tying and winning runs. Zech Zinicola came on with one out in the eighth and took the loss while Mike Belfiore earned the win by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Goodwin had two hits in the game along with Bloxom for the Senators. With the loss the Senators have been officially eliminated from playoff contention in 2012, snapping their streak of making the playoffs at two seasons. Harrisburg falls to 61-72 while Bowie improves to 72-61.

The final game of the four-game series is Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. with RH Chien Ming-Wang on the hill for Harrisburg. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket beginning with the pregame show at 1:45 p.m.
