San Rafael Pacifics Rally to Beat Maui Na Koa Ikaika in Game 1

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Steve Boggs drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning, as the San Rafael Pacifics bested the Maui Na Koa Ikaika 7-6 in Game 1 of the North American League North Division Series at Albert Park on Friday night.

Boggs (2 for 4, two RBI) laced an RBI single past the drawn in Maui infield with the bases loaded, breaking a 6-6 tie, and making a winner out of reliever Matt Stabelfeld (3-3).

Julian Arballo pitched a perfect ninth to earn his fourth save of the year.

San Rafael (33-25) was sparked by Matt Alton (2 for 4, double, two runs), short stop Darrick Hale (3 for 4, two RBIs, run), and Zack Pace reached base three times and scored three times.

The two teams were tied at 6-6 entering the eighth, as Pacifics starter Jake Rasner went 5 innings, giving up four runs on six hits and struck out four.

Maui starter Chad Blackwell lasted 7 innings, scattered nine hits, allowed six runs, walked three and fanned six. Mike Koons (2-3) took the loss for Maui (35-29).

On Saturday San Rafael sends Tyler Pearson (4-0) to the mound, as the Pacifics look to clinch the best-of-three division series.

Tickets to Game 2 are available at www.pacificsbaseball.com . First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m., as Saturday is also Pacifics "Bark in the Park Night." Fans can buy a special ticket, and bring their dogs. The Marin Human Society will also be holding a special adoption event at Albert Park.
