TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers relied on the long ball to top the Reno Aces 4-3 at Cheney Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

All four of the Rainiers runs in the contest were accounted for via a combined three home runs hit by Nick Franklin, Brandon Bantz and Alex Liddi.

Franklin was the first to go deep for Tacoma, belting a solo home run to right field that cut a 2-0 Aces lead down to one run. The catcher Bantz's second home run of the season was a game-tying blast in the seventh - a two-out solo shot to left field that evened the score at 2-2.

The third baseman Liddi was responsible for hitting what proved to be the game-winner with a two-out, two-run home run to left field that gave the Rainiers a 4-2 edge.

Tacoma tallied a combined eight hits in the contest, with Bantz and Liddi each turning in two-hit efforts. In the second game of his rehab appearance with the Rainiers, Franklin Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Reliever Bobby LaFromboise (5-2) earned the win after allowing a hit, a walk and striking out one over an inning of work in the eighth. Reliever Danny Farquhar picked up his third save despite allowing one run on one hit in the ninth.

Starter Danny Hultzen retired each of the final 12 batters he faced after surrendering one run courtesy of three walks in the first inning. The left-hander struck out six batters over 5.0 scoreless frames in his ninth start for Tacoma.

The Rainiers (55-74) host the third game of the club's four-game series against the Aces (72-57) at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, August 19. Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez (4-3, 4.05) is scheduled to start for Tacoma against right-hander Charles Brewer (9-7, 6.14) for the Aces.
