Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Williamsport had their four-game win streak ended by the Batavia Muckdogs, as the Crosscutters fell behind early and couldn't rally for a 7-2 loss.

Kevin Brady got the start, but had his toughest outing of the season. He allowed three runs in the first inning and never looked his usual dominant self.

Patrick Wisdom opened the scoring with a two-run triple to right-center in the first inning. Kyle Hoppy and Cameron Perkins collided on the play, but neither player was hurt. Garrett Wittels capped the inning with a sac fly to center.

Trailing 3-0 in the second, Chace Numata answered, hitting a sac fly to score Larry Greene. But Batavia answered in the bottom half of the inning when David Washington scored on a Chris Serritella error.

Williamsport did get one more run on the board. Down 5-1 in the sixth inning, Perkins led off with a double and Serritella drove him in on a double down the right field line.

After Manaure Martinez and Andrew Aizenstadt kept the game close, Washington broke it open in the eighth inning. Washington took Steven Inch deep to right-center for a two-run blast to put the game away.

The Crosscutters drop to 19-34 and remain in sixth place in the Pinckney Division.

Williamsport is off for two days for the NYPL All-Star break, but is back in action on Wednesday at Bowman Field. First pitch against the visiting Muckdogs is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
