LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are pleased to announce a trio of players from the 2012 team have been named New York-Penn League All-Stars and will represent the team at the game August 14 in Mahoning Valley, OH.

Representing the Spinners is utility player Dreily Guerrero, listed as the starter at Designated Hitter, and left-handed pitcher Francisco Taveras. Also selected, but not traveling to Mahoning Valley since he would be unable to participate, was right-handed pitcher William Cuevas.

Guerrero, 21, has split the 2012 season between Lowell and Greenville (Low-A), batting .277 with four doubles and six RBI, stealing nine bases. Guerrero has played all over the field for the Spinners, starting games at second base, third base and left field. A native of Higuey, Dominican Republic, Guerrero is in his fourth professional season.

Taveras, 22, was the Spinners' Opening Day starter after pitching the previous two seasons with the Gulf Coast Red Sox. In 11 games for the Spinners, all but one coming as a piggy-back starter, Taveras has posted a 4-1 record with a 1.82 ERA (fifth best in the NYPL). He has struck out 44 in 49.1 innings, holding opponents to a .188 average.

Cuevas, 21, has been one of the league's most dominant starters in 2012, posting a 5-2 record with a 1.61 ERA (third best in the NYPL), striking out 50 (fourth) in 56 innings pitched. Cuevas, who has split his time starting and pitching in a piggy-back role, has appeared in 11 games, starting four. He won't make the trip to Mahoning Valley as he is having his turn in the rotation skipped Sunday, thus won't be listed on the All-Star rosters.

The Spinners All-Stars will join the American League All-Stars in the exhibition game, before the Spinners return to LeLacheur Park Wednesday, August 15 for a six-game homestand kicked off with Speed Dating for Tyler Seguin. Ticket for that game and all remaining Lowell Spinners home games are still available by visiting www.LowellSpinners.com or calling the Box Office at (978) 459-1702.
