Smokies Return Home to Take on Pensacola this Monday

July 27, 2012 - Southern League (SL) Tennessee Smokies

KODAK, Tenn. - Following the longest road trip of the season, the Tennessee Smokies return home to kick off a five-game homestand against the newest member of the Southern League, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Come cheer on the Smokies as the homestand will include a peanut-free night (Monday), special appearance by Pat McGlothin (Tuesday) and a salute to all police officers, firefighters and first responders (Thursday).

We kick off the series on Monday with a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. Fans with peanut allergies will be able to enjoy the game as Smokies Park will be cleaned of peanut residue and no peanut products will be sold on "Peanut-Free" Night, presented by the Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center. Every Monday is $1 Hot Dog Night, sponsored by Oscar Mayer, Pilot and WATE TV-6. Some lucky fans will have a chance to walk away with some free cash in the Citizens National Bank Money Grab and it's also another Food City Family Night, courtesy of Orville Redenbacher Popcorn. Fans that bring an Orville Redenbacher box, or proof or purchase from Food City will receive a buy one ticket, get one free offer.

Tuesday's 7:15 game will feature a special appearance by former University of Tennessee baseball player (1939-40) Ezra "Pat" McGlothin, who was a member of the 1949-50 Brooklyn Dodgers and teammates with Hall-of-Famer Jackie Robinson. It is also another Pilot Prize Night; where everyone's a winner and the Smokies will also offer anyone who shows their Pilot Rewards Card a $2 discount on a walk-up ticket purchase on "Pilot Prize Night."

The 7:15 p.m. game Wednesday is Blount County Night, where all residents and employees of Blount County can show their ID's and pay stubs to the box office and receive a $2 discount on any regular priced field level or bleacher tickets, presented by the Maryville Daily Times.

We wrap up the series on Thursday night at 7:15 with Guns 'N' Hoses night, where we will salute and honor all police officers, firefighters, EMTs and first responders. Every fan in attendance will go home a winner on Pilot Prize Night and it's another Food City Family Night, sponsored by Peter Pan Peanut Butter. Fans that bring a Peter Pan Peanut Butter wrapper, or proof or purchase from Food City will receive a buy one ticket, get one free offer. All kids, 12-and-under with paid admission, will receive a free hot dog, bag of chips and small soda, courtesy of Q93 FM. Employees and residents of Knox County can show their IDs or pay stubs to receive a $2 discount on walk-up tickets on Knox County Night, presented by the Knoxville News Sentinel and CW 20.

Smokies tickets can be purchased at www.smokiesbaseball.com or at (865) 286-2300. Adult field level or bleacher seats are $10/$8. Child (12-and-under) and senior (55+) field level or bleacher seats are $9/$7. Fans buying tickets at least four hours before game time get $1 off each ticket.
