Gary Mitchell activated from 7-day DL; Brandon Lodge placed on the 7-day DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that OF Gary Mitchell has been activated from the 7-day disabled list and that RHP Brandon Lodge has been placed on the 7-day DL. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Thursday.

Mitchell was placed on the DL back on July 9th. He is batting .264 with 11 HR and 31 RBI in 54 games for the Kernels and is the team leader with 11 home runs.

Lodge joined the Kernels on July 7th and in three relief appearances he has no record and an 11.57 ERA, allowing six runs on nine hits and walking two over 4.2 IP.

With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a six game home stand tonight at 6:35 pm against the Fort Wayne TinCaps with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. The current home stand continues through Monday, July 23rd.
