Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Asheville Tourists 3-1 this afternoon at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,035 fans.
Tony Mueller led off the first inning with a walk and was later driven in by Ross Heffley's RBI double. This early 1-0 lead didn't last long as Rome's pitcher, Greg Ross (2-7), would surrender a solo home run in the top of the second to Jordan Ribera (2) to tie the game at one all. Asheville scored two additional runs in the fourth on Sam Mende's RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Ribera.
Ross pitched eight good innings allowing three runs on only four hits. However, the Rome offense never got going and he was charged with the loss. Chris Jensen (10-3) pitched himself out of jams all afternoon and came away with the victory for Asheville.
The Rome Braves travel to Savannah and Charleston before returning home July 27th to face Savannah at 7 pm. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
